Theme of the Month - September
Each month the Outreach Club and I will be promoting a theme throughout the school to help support a positive school climate. This month the theme is KINDNESS! The Outreach Club has done a great job creating posters that are displayed around the school reminding everyone to be kind. As well there are two books from our school library that are displayed in the window of my office that teachers are welcome to use in their classrooms to help promote kindness! One book, "Can I play too?" is about a little snake who was left out of a game of catch because he had no arms. The other characters in the book show kindness by coming up with a way that the snake can join in the game. The second book. "The perfect nest" is a great story about a cat who builds the perfect nest to catch eggs for an omelet. However, after the eggs hatch his feeling change. Very entertaining!
A tattle vs. A report!
I would like to thank Mrs. Burke for inviting me into her class to talk to the students about tattling. We started off our visit by reading a great new book from our library called "A Bad Case of Tattle Tongue" This book is very entertaining and did an excellent job of describing the difference between a tattle and a report. We defined a tattle as when you tell on someone to try and get them in trouble and a report as telling because someone is in danger, hurt, or something is broken (including a rule). We also talked about trying to solve the problems ourselves and when that doesn't work asking the teacher for help.
